  • 2006 Bachelor of Arts in mathematics and physics at the Ruhr-University Bochum. Title of the examination paper in mathematics: “Planare Wurzelbäume und Lukaciewicz-Sprache“
  • 2008 Master of Education in mathematics and physics at the Ruhr-University Bochum. Title of the examination paper supported by a scholarship of the Alfried-Krupp science lab for school students: “Ausarbeitung von Experimenten zur Umströmung von Tragflächenmodellen für Projekte im Schülerlabor“
  • since 2009 research assistant and PhD-student at the department of physics education at the Ruhr-University Bochum

Research Topic

Key research question:

Which normatively justifiable competencies should secondary school students acquire in order to be able to identify and manage measurement uncertainties and to draw conclusions on this basis concerning the measurement and its results?



- Content-specific and structural analysis of the current national and international guidelines and standard literature on the collection and handling of measurement uncertainties. Categorization and summary of the obtained concepts and relations in the form of a content-structure-model.

- Reduction of the model to secondary school level by analyzing the content in terms of its relevance and communicability. Merging the remaining aspects to concepts.

- Formulation of competencies based on these reduced concepts. Describing the degree of understanding the concepts through certain levels, which result from application of a taxonomy adapted to the problem area.
